In the field of education, Ananda Marga runs 31 pre-schools. A total of 2012 children benefit from our educational institutions. These schools focus on early childhood education. They teach the Neohumanistic method of education.
Neohumanism was the philosophy first propounded in 1982 by Shrii P.R. Sarkar. Many of his followers are now elaborating more of his principles through education.
Neohumanist schools emphasize the holistic development of the child’s personality. Amongst other things it uses creative games, fantasy stories, and the development of sensory-motor and cognitive skills to awaken the thirst for knowledge in the child. A specialty in Neohumanist schools is the practice of simple yoga exercises to develop agility and grace in the child. A simple technique of meditation is also taught to instill pure thoughts of love for all beings in the child’s mind.
Neohumanist schools can be found in all the strata of SE Asian society: from the slums of Kuala Lumpur to the suburbs of Medan (read more about this schhool); from the squatter areas of Manila to the neighborhoods of Vientiane; from the sophisticated to the rustic.
